Mandatory report of shipments containing wood as packaging material and shoring

Effective 01.02.2016 under recent legislation published by the Brazilian Ministry MAPA under Instruction 32, it becomes mandatory to report shipments containing wood as packaging material and shoring.

We therefore advise our customers to issue shipping instructions of import and export shipments to and from Brazil as below. Please note that the instruction applies to transits and transshipments as well.

If no wood is contained, declare:
Containing No Wood or Wood Packaging

If wood is contained, declare the applicable of the following wordings:
Containing wood or wood packaging: Treated and Certified
Containing wood or wood packaging: Processed
Containing wood or wood packaging: Not treated and Not Certified

Shippers are responsible to provide the above wood packaging information at the time of Shipping instruction submission. If Shipping Instruction does not contain such information, it will be assumed that the container does not contain any wood or wooden packaging. Any consequences whatsoever due to the lack of information or incorrect information will be the customer’s responsibility.
