Grimaldi Lines Company History

The Grimaldi Group Naples is one of the largest, privately owned shipping companies specialized in roll on/roll off shipments between Europe, West Africa, South America and the Mediterranean. The group has been  established in Italy more than 50 years ago by the Grimaldi family - nowadays still remaining active in the company - has quickly expanded over the last 15 years to become one of the market leaders on this field.

The group was one of the pioneers of the roll on/roll off concept and has currently one of the largest and most modern fleets of purpose roro and multipurpose roro vessels in the world. It has pointed the way to remain to the fore of maritime technology with 11 new vessels commissioned during the 1986-1993 period and further 21 vessels ordered within the last four years. All these vessels have been built to accommodate the widest range of project cargos with ramps of up to 250mt capacity and adjustable deck heights of up to 6.5m.

The latest additions to the fleet have enabled the company to offer improved frequency and to remain a highly competitive service provider for clients worldwide. Based on the experience of over a century in the shipping business, Grimaldi will be committed to remain a market leader in the international ocean transportation sector while continuing to provide across the board logistic solutions. On 1st of May 2002 Grimaldi opened its own terminal in Antwerp, initially with an area of 200.000 sqm with future expansion up to 1.000.000 sqm.
