Grimaldi - new THC at Antwerp and Hamburg

Please be advised that Terminal Handling Charges for containerised exports and imports at Antwerp and Hamburg will be increased to the following levels with effect from the 1st September 2012.
This change applies to all trades.

Euros 160 per container (dry)
Euros 260 per container (reefer)

Hamburg
Euros 200 per container (dry)
Euros 310 per container (reefer)

Port situation update Djibouti

DCT – Terminal update
Subsequent to the adverse weather on 4th July 2012 damaging many containers and equipments and the suspected poisonous gas leak on 12/07 where by the terminal was evacuated for half a day, pls be infmd that Dorelah Container terminal (DCT) Djibouti is reeling under the impact inflicted by both the above mentioned incidents.

The above not only stopped the work but also allowed the cargo (both import /export) to pile up congesting both the yards and affected the vessel productivity which fell fm 25 moves an hour to less than 15 moves per hour whereby berthing delays have become a common phenomena.

In the export yard containers cannot be traced and if traced requires many unproductive shifting’s to move the box to the ship side. Due to equipment shortage in many cases only part shipment gets loaded. We are closely monitoring the situation and doing our very best to get all export boxes loaded on to the next available vessel, depending on equipment availability but regretfully these are beyond our control.

Will keep you informed about the developments till such time the terminal is back to normal.

BAF to Mombasa and Dar es Salaam USD 815/TEU
BAF to Red Sea Destinations USD 505/TEU
CAF 5.7%
Piracy surcharge USD 350/TEU to Dar es Salaam and Mombasa (unchanged)
all other surcharges remain unchange

Grimaldi - Misdeclaring cargo weights in PointeNoire/Congo

We have been advised by our agents in Pointe Noire that the Customs Authorities of the Republic of Congo have started to issue severe fines in case of underdeclaration of weights in the cargo manifests. We remind you that the eventual consequences of misdeclaring cargo weights remain at the responsibility of the shippers / forwarders and therefore urge you to advise accurate cargo weights in your Bill of Lading instructions. With immediate effect, our agents will be compelled to issue manifest correctors in case weights are noted to be incorrect and related expenses (being customs fines for correctors to manifests, as per official tariffs), will be charged to the receivers. It goes without saying that the Customs Authorities are addressing this issue to all shipping lines calling the port of Pointe Noire.  We continue to follow this matter closely.
