PIL - new service into East Africa

We are pleased to advise the launching of Africa Middle East 2 Service (AM2).
  • Rotation:  Karachi - Jebel Ali - Dar Es Salaam  - Mombasa
  • Frequency :- Every 11 days using 3 vessels
  • Commencement: 6th March 2013 @ Karachi as a PIL independent service


Tarros - Greece new door regulations

Please note that, starting from the 14th January 2013, every single cntr. being unloaded in Greek ports will be weighted.

If cntr.s are heavier than maximum authorised weight for road circulation (max 26 Tons. cntr. tare included) they will be taken to a warehouse, partially unloaded and exceeding cargo will be loaded into another cntr. (in this case, there will be very high extra costs).

In order to avoid any risk, especially in case of door deliveries being done by Tarros, please consider following max weight per cntr:

• 23,50 tons x 20’

• 21,80 tons x 40’

depending on container Tara. Pls check with us prior booking



Grimaldi - Updated policy for used electricals and household / personal effects to Nigeria

USED ELECTRICALS

With immediate effect Grimaldi Lines will no longer accept bookings of used electricals to Nigeria.

HOUSEHOLD / PERSONAL EFFECTS (IN CONTAINERS)

Bookings for all used, second hand, personal and/or household effects, and/or bric a brac in containers for Nigeria will only be accepted on the basis that the bills of lading will be stamped with the following clause ;

Bill of Ladings to be claused ;

The shipper hereby guarantees that all goods shipped under this bill of lading do not contain used electrical or used electronic goods and cannot be considered toxic or harmful/hazardous waste and do not contain any Ozone depleting substance or any other prohibited goods detailed by the Nigerian Government. Shipper also guarantees that all goods stuffed inside are in compliance with the Basel and Rotterdam Convention.

No booking should be accepted without this clause.

HOUSEHOLD / PERSONAL EFFECTS (RORO)

Household and personal effects, including small quantities of non waste used electrical items which can be considered for private use may be accepted in roro (cars / small vans / big vans and box trailers) provided they are in line with the Nigeria List of Prohibited Goods. All goods stuffed must be fully visible and accessible. This means that the inside of any vehicle must be accessible and available for inspection and all contents throughout the vehicle must be clearly visible.

All bills of lading for second hand vehicles to Lagos must be claused as follows ;

The shipper hereby guarantees that all goods shipped under this bill of lading do not contain waste used electrical or waste used electronic goods and cannot be considered toxic or harmful/hazardous waste and do not contain any Ozone depleting substance or any other prohibited goods detailed by the Nigerian Government. Shipper also guarantees that all goods stuffed inside are in compliance with the Basel and Rotterdam Convention.



W.E.C. Lines - surcharges February 2013

Please find attached the updated overview of surcharges that will have to be applied on the traffic to/from East African / Red Sea and Indian Ocean destinations for February 2013.

Please take note of the following:

CAF for February 2013 for SB shipments – increased to 7.5 %

BAF EA for February 2013 for SB shipments – decreased to USD 805/Teu

BAF RS for February 2013 for SB shipments – decreased to USD 480/Teu

BAF Comores for February 2013 for SB/NB shipments – decreased to Euro 490/Teu

BAF EA + RS for February 2013 for NB shipments – decreased to USD 280/Teu

CSC Dar es Salaam (for Tanzanian imports only – unchanged - not applicable on border crossing cargo under merchant or carrier haulage via Dar es Salaam

West Africa Feeder operation
We would like to recap here as well the service rotation of the PIL operated West Africa Feeder Service which currently operates as follows:

With the above upgrading of the West Africa services, we are glad to highlight that PIL is now offering weekly direct service to (from) 12 major West African ports from (to) the Far East, with T/S at Lome for Point Noire, Matadi and Libreville.
