Port name changes from Chittagong to Chattogram

Customers can choose which port name appears on BL

The Bangladesh Government informed that the name of the port of Chittagong will be changed to Chattogram. As per advice from carrier PIL, both Chittagong and Chattogram spellings are allowed at the moment.

Going forward PIL Bills of Lading will indicate the POD as "Chattogram (Chittagong)" by default. Upon request by our customers, we may also indicate only one of the names, i.e. "Chattogram" or "Chittagong". The manifest will always reflect "Chattogram (Chittagong)".

There is currently no deadline set by the government as to when the authorities will cease acceptance of "Chittagong" spelling. The Ozean team will keep you posted about any developments.
